Henry Miller Henry Miller Wild West Weekend

Just for Fun
And not just for kids!

Life in the Wild West was tough. Most everything required lots of hard work, pretty much from sun up to sun down. There weren't a lot of laughs in riding herd, farming or even homemaking.

When there was an occasion for folks to let loose and have a good time that's just what they did. They had fun with Contests, Games, Folks, Food, and Fun, So.....

The Henry Miller Wild West Weekend will have something for kids of all ages. There will be many things to see and do. Some of the things to see that might appeal to the young and the young at heart are:

There are also going to be many things that are HANDS ON activities for the children to participate in. A few of the things that are planned so far include:

  • Kid friendly atmosphere,  FREE stuff for kids to do
  • Lots of yummy food and drink from a variety of vendors
  • Everyone encouraged to dress 1890s, multi culturally
  • Live music, you might even want to dance
  • Pie eating contest
  • Cowboy Up Contest (series of “cowboy” relay challenges, fastest time wins)
  • Chore course relay (carry pail of water, fetch firewood, hang clothes)
  • Rattlesnake pass (pass the “hot” potato before music stops)
  • Milk the latex glove
  • Wheelbarrow race
  • Three legged race
  • Egg & spoon race
  • Cow patty bingo
  • Hay stack hunt
  • Cow chip toss
  • Diaper Derby
  • Tic-tac-toe
  • Hangman

Below are some just for fun links, enjoy!

Think you're a fast draw? Your time will tell ....

(Legend has it an unnamed person in the Los Banos based Golden State Gunslinger's fast draw club readies for her/his day by checking their reaction time! This is serious fun ... Cowboy up:)

Reaction Time Trainer

A different reaction test
(be alert or these little critters will fake you out)

The Old West Shoot Em Up
(thankfully we'll be shooting at targets!)

The Wild Wild West Action Game
(interesting, entertaining)

Cowboy Bullet Game
(I think the is the hardest game of all)

Real Cowboy Fast Draw is a reaction test.

Remember, adults can enter the Lefty Manzanedo Memorial Celebrity Shootout or the Golden State Gunslinger's (Los Banos Fast Draw Club) Gunslinger Alley as many times as you can afford:) Both benefit local charity and both are reasonably priced. Gunslinger Alley is $5.00 for ten shots (empty the gun twice); the Celebrity Shootout (competing for trophies and prizes) costs $10 for the local celeb and $5 for the pro, enter with as many local celebrities or pros as you can afford. $10 gets you 5 shots (empty the gun once). At the end of the day it's the fastest time for 10 shots that wins the big prize and distinction of being Best of the West Celebrity Shooter. Two local celebs have a chance of winning this event!

It's captivating and addictive like a video game. You may be shooting at the same time as others (even competing for cash, prizes, and bragging rights); however in reality, you're competing against yourself. You just know you can get a faster time ... just one more try ... although one more try usually means load the gun one more time... with five (not one) wax bullets.

See what I mean? Captivating and addictive....and ever so fun!
